Although I love the rich Indian silk fabrics, I also like the cheapie cotton cloth that most of the women wear daily. So I set this portrait of a young Kumaoni woman against a backdrop of those mass-produced cotton cloths that everyone who spends time in India, comes to recognise. She is wearing a typical green and red-embroidered woolen shawl around her head.
