|I've known Som Tewari for as long as I've been going to Northern India. He and his two brothers own and manage the ever-growing building which is the home of the Tewari family. Tara started with a tiny chaishop and now manages a large guesthouse, the biggest general store around and a restaurant. Som, the middle brother, runs the kitchen which feeds the whole operation. He's a dark, quiet, gentle man, apparently content with his lot in life and madly in love with his wife and children. He has let me cook Christmas puddings on his kitchen fire and in return, has pinched my special secret recipe for dal which he now serves up daily with great success.
